About BuildInPublicLog

Flex your streak, not your follower count.

What is BuildInPublicLog?

BuildInPublicLog is a public leaderboard that ranks builders by one metric that truly matters: consistency.

Instead of measuring success by followers, revenue, or funding, we celebrate the builders who show up week after week and ship. Your streak represents your dedication, discipline, and commitment to building in public.

Connect your GitHub account, track your commits across repositories, and watch your shipping streak grow. Every week you ship code, you extend your streak. Miss a week, and it resets.

Why We Built This

The "build in public" movement celebrates transparency and consistent progress. But social media often rewards vanity metrics over real work. We wanted to create a space where:

  • Shipping matters more than talking about shipping
  • Consistency beats one-time viral successes
  • Anyone can compete, regardless of audience size
  • Progress is measured objectively, not by engagement

Whether you're a solo founder, open source maintainer, or weekend builder, your streak tells your story.

How It Works

  1. Connect GitHub: Sign in with your GitHub account (we only request read access)
  2. Select Repositories: Choose which public or private repos to track
  3. We Track Your Commits: Every commit you make counts as shipping
  4. Build Your Streak: Ship at least once per week (Monday-Sunday) to maintain your streak
  5. Climb the Leaderboard: The leaderboard ranks builders by current streak length

Privacy & Security

We take your privacy seriously. We only read commit metadata (dates, messages, URLs) and never access your actual code. Your GitHub access token is encrypted and stored securely.

You can make your profile private at any time, and you have full control to delete your account and all data. Read our Privacy Policy for details.
